DOG LICENSE FEE ORDINANCE
        
        It shall be unlawful for the owner or keeper of a dog the age of six (6) months or over, except for those kept under a kennel license as provided by State law, to keep such dog without first obtaining a license from the municipal clerk’s office for said animal on or before January 1st, annually or at such time as such dog becomes six (6) months old, Said license shall comply with and be issued in accordance with said Title 7 M.R.S.A. Sec. 3451, et seq.

        Prior to a police officer, constable, sheriff or other animal control officer of the Town proceeding to enter a complaint and summons against the owners or keepers of any unlicensed dog, said police officer, constable, sheriff or animal control officer shall call upon the owner or keepers of said dog and demand that he conform with the law and obtain a license from the clerk within seven (7) days from the date of said demand.  In such event, the owner or keeper shall pay to the Clerk in addition to the regular license fee set forth under the State law, an officer’s fee of $25.00 as provided in 7 M.R.S.A. Sec. 3702 and as it may be amended, which the Clerk shall pay over to the municipality.
